I couldn’t be more excited to share with you our little Sawyer’s nursery and fab finds to create a neutral and calming space for baby boy. We are patiently awaiting his arrival and hope he will love his room as much as we do.
Our inspiration for this space came from animal prints that I found at Restoration Hardware Baby and Child. The watercolor art was so classic and charming, I knew I wanted the room to compliment their soothing design. You can find these adorable animal illustrations here.
I wanted to incorporate aged wood to give his nursery some texture. I found his dresser also at Restoration Hardware Baby & Child and love it for its ability to convert from a changing table. This dresser has beautiful pewter hardware and velvet lined drawers that allow ample space for his little clothes and baby essentials. I think it gives the room a little masculinity. You can find our nursery dresser here.
To give the classic elements of this space a modern twist, we chose a rug and rocker from Pottery Barn Kids, that compliment the small space and add an urban flare for a more contemporary look. We accessorized with a large illuminated wall star and bold steel letters to create mood lighting and dimension. The book shelf is compact and fits perfectly beside his crib for late night reading sessions.
It was also important to us that we incorporated a few hand me downs that are special and meaningful. Our daughters crib holds a special place in our hearts. We have so many memories of picking out her crib and putting it together- it was the center piece of her nursery and where many nights were spent watching her sleep. This crib was purchased from Newport Cottages, one of my very favorite hand crafted furniture companies. The armoire was given to us by a family friend and reminds us of when we moved in to our new home a few years ago. It happened to flow with the feeling of the room and just felt right.
Lastly, we went for bedding that was simple and fresh. We wanted the room to have a natural look and thought the linen fabric and flax coloring of sweet elephants nailed it. To add personalization we added his name to this sweet felt pillow that happened to show the name “Sawyer” on the website- it was a sign! The pillow needed to be purchased and housed in our little man’s room.
We hope Sawyer’s nursery inspires you! Look below for more information on decor and furniture items featured in his nursery space.
