Happy Wednesday, everyone! We are finally feeling human around here and getting into the groove with two babes in tow. The last few weeks have been an adjustment for all of us, especially our Delilah. She has surprised us all with her ability to adapt and jump right in on the action as mamas little helper. She loves to help bathe Sawyer, grab diapers and talk with him while he stares intently at his bright friends under his play gym. She has been undeniably generous and sweet with her baby brother and offers her plush animals, books and a lullaby with her Frozen microphone daily. However, we have noticed her opting for attention in other ways, such as, wanting all of mamas attention at bath and bedtime. She has been insisting on mama or daddy lying with her until she falls asleep, no complaints there we will take a snuggle when we can get one, just a new behavior since Sawyer has arrived. She has also been trying to bend the rules when it comes to her actual bed time, house rules, i.e., cleaning up her mess after playtime and sugar intake- all to be expected I guess. For now we are picking our battles and rolling with it until she feels completely comfortable and secure in her new role as Big Sister. At the end of the day the transition has been smooth, sweet and heartwarming to see our babies together and loving one another.
Its been a while since we have had a newborn in the house and we are enjoying every single minute. I however, have come to remember that lack of sleep in the newborn phase is no joke. Some nights Sawyer gives us a three or four hour stretch and mama feels like a million bucks, but most nights he is wanting to nurse every two hours and on those nights mama is up with one eye open longing for one huge cup of caffeine. We tend to struggle with napping when he naps during the day as there is always something that needs attention- you mamas know the deal! We are working on our napping efforts and catching up on sleep to make the nights a little less exhausting. Sawyer is one precious, amazing little being and we are remembering that this time is precious, short lived and that he will soon be mobile, talking and growing way too fast, just like his sister. There is something very special about being up with him during the night when everyone else in the house and neighborhood is fast asleep, its a love hate relationship at the moment, but mostly love.
We are so excited to share with you our favorite images from Sawyer’s first photo shoot. They are so dear to our heart as they are our first portraits of our family of four. Enjoy the rest of this gorgeous week!
