The day has come…Sawyer has caught his first full blown cold with all the snot and flushed cheeks to boot. Last night was a horrible sleep for him, the first warning sign that something was off. He woke up a couple times not hungry, another warning sign, just wanting to snuggle with his mama. We rocked for a while in his room until he finally fell back asleep but I could hear it in his little cry that he was coming down with something.
This morning he woke up all smiles and ate a good breakfast of yogurt and oatmeal with his sissy. Mid-morning the snotty nose and congestion came back like a vengeance and he was down for the count. For most of the day he rested with his lovie, WubbaNub and Barney and Friends on repeat while mama did some much needed laundry. He got a nice warm bath after lunch and took a really good nap after we picked Delilah up from school. He seems to be feeling a little better this evening, hoping for a quick recovery for our little man before the weekend.
Delilah had a super fun day at school and learned all about Groundhogs Day. She said they learned that the groundhog did in fact see his shadow today so there is six more weeks of Winter, more time for a potential snow storm to hit Maryland and make all her dreams come true. She had a blast doing a craft at school with her friends in which they made their own shadows. On the way home from school we stopped at Starbucks for a mid-day caffeine fix and pink cake pop for Delilah, Thursday made!
After dinner we watched Delilah’s new favorite movie, The Parent Trap, the one with Lindsay Lohan and ate too much popcorn. Delilah held an intermission while I nursed Sawyer and put him to bed. After the movie Delilah performed The Macarena because well that’s the latest around these parts…The Macrena, give me strength. She’s actually pretty good at the dance….The hubby and I were cracking up!
After her performance we read a book and said our good nights. She has a home day tomorrow and I think we may head over to Target for the usual….Starbucks and whole lot of fun stuff that we really just don’t need, Yay Yay Yay! It’s Friday and we earned it, right mama’s!? Since we have another six weeks of Winter we want to share with you our Winter essentials for the kiddos that we can’t live without during snow days, we are due! Happy almost weekend!
