It’s starting to look at a lot like Christmas around here and I have two little excited babes to prove it. Delilah is currently browsing through her favorite catalogs and circling everything that sparkles, shines and can be dressed in frilly baby clothes. Sawyer is lounging in his Dockatot with his bottle watching his sissy go to town with her blue magic marker. I have made it a goal of mine to work on weaning the bottle after the holiday season. This little guy savors every ounce of milk from his beloved bottle and it keeps his ever moving body still for a glorious fifteen minutes while I work on the daily to do’s, mama’s you know!
The hubby and I are debating on whether or not to invest in an artificial tree, the flocked style, or if we should stick to a real blue spruce. As a child, my family always opted for a real tree and I suppose I’m a bit partial to the “hunting for a real tree” experience, although, not opposed to the convenience of an artificial tree. The needles and watering are a chore and simplifying the everyday “to do” list is music to my ears. I adore the flocked trees that looks like a gentle snow just happened in your family room and it would compliment our decor well. Decisions, decisions… what are you guys doing this year, real or artificial?
Along with gearing up for the holidays, we have been busy at Delilah’s school. She is still enjoying every second of her Kindergarten class and has made a sweet circle of friends. Her Turkey Trot was a super exciting event to attend and we were able to meet more of her classmates and watch them interact with each other. Delilah loves when I volunteer in her classroom and is looking forward to her upcoming field trip to the Library. Sawyer looks forward to walking his sister to the bus every morning and waves bye from his push car, I die a little every time I see his face when the bus drives away. Not to worry, he is quickly distracted from his sister’s absence with his favorite breakfast, warm pancakes and diced strawberries.
This past week was fun filled with Thanksgiving festivities and photo shoots for Christmas. Delilah and I were in charge of the mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce to bring to Pop and Gigi’s for Thanksgiving dinner. The babes helped in the kitchen and we made it a fun event with Christmas music and Frosty on repeat. Delilah was a huge help with pealing the potatoes while Sawyer had a grand time using his designated potato as a play ball, I expected nothing less than a battered potato hidden beneath his toy bin, Sawyer accomplished this task in no time. Nonetheless, our potatoes were smooth, buttery and delicious, Delilah was a seriously proud sous chef.
We decided to do our family photos a bit earlier than normal so our Holiday cards would be on time and I wouldn’t have to rush shipping, the hubby approved. This year we used Tiny Prints and I am watching the mailbox like a true mama bear waiting for our beloved holiday package to arrive. Anyone else get as anxious for their holiday cards? Holiday priorities of a mama in full effect over here. I am so excited, truth! Speaking of excitement, I am beyond thrilled to start shopping this year. The kiddos are at the best ages to enjoy the holiday and seasonal festivities and the hubby and I will savor their little faces as they light up on Christmas morning. There is absolutely nothing better in this world then to see pure joy in the eyes of your children.
On a different note, if you are looking to make the season a little more fun for you and your mini you must check out Keds and their latest line by Kate Spade. Think glitter, sparkle, comfort and sparkling matching kicks to make your shopping sprees a little more festive. These statement sneakers will dress up your every day style and compliment a dressy holiday look with crushed glitter and satin laces. Delilah thinks it’s so fun to match when we go out and she adores the added glitter to her everyday school attire.
Not only do these sneakers sparkle and shine, they come in several gorgeous hues and include two pairs of laces. This is a major win, especially for the kiddos who wear them to school on the daily and play hard during recess. New laces are always welcome around these parts. The retro-inspired foxing stripe, soft breathable lining and cushioned insole make these matching sneakers the perfect holiday gift for friends, family or to your own closet. We love to pair these beauties with denim skinnies and an oversized sweater for a chic and comfortable look. Kate Spade has nailed it and we are in love with these sparkling stunners this Holiday season.
