The Holidays are officially here and I am happy to say our family photos are a wrap. Who else sheds blood, sweat and tears to get a few images of your family looking in the same direction for your holiday cards? Add the family dog in to the mix and you might as well start drinking that glass of wine as soon as you wake up for a little tranquility before the storm breaks, complete chaos I tell you!
The grind of getting every one ready for a glorious day of high pitched voices, meltdowns, bribery and running around like a crazy person trying to contain your toddler for a few still moments makes me cringe, but in the end, a well captured photo of the entire family is worth every minute of turmoil.
What did everyone do this weekend? We spent our Saturday making gingerbread houses and searching for the perfect tree to adorn our family room. We broke down and decided against an artificial tree this year, (ahhhh one day, one day I will have my fake flocked tree) and to continue our tradition of giving a real tree from the farm a home. Delilah was so funny, she was adamant about picking this specific tree because it was a bit isolated from the rest. A little on the scrawny side, but it’s imperfections became it’s most special characteristics to our six year old.
We spent the rest of the weekend decorating the tree and our fireplace mantle with lots of live pine, candles and retro glass ornaments. We made a night of it with The Santa Claus movie and popcorn on the couch and let the kids fall asleep on our laps. It was low key, but many memories were made and that makes for the perfect winter weekend. Wishing everyone a very happy Holiday Season full of photo worthy cheer, laughter and love.
…Happy Holidays to You and Yours…
